Bluetooth GPS

Bluetooth GPS models are capable of receiving both the signals coming from the satellite, as all GPS models do, as well as Bluetooth signals. A Bluetooth GPS receiver is able to direct a call through a cell phone by touching the screen. This allows for mostly hands-free dialing and calling. (These GPS models can ask you if you want to call the restaurant in advance and make a reservation, for example, and then look up and dial the number.)

In many ways, Bluetooth and GPS technology are very complementary of one another. For someone driving in an unfamiliar place, the touch screen and the ability to easily find and dial a number hand-free makes this technology both safer and convenient than trying to look up a number elsewhere, or looking down and pressing buttons on a cell phone.

Bluetooth is not featured in the most basic GPS models, but is an additional feature.  Again, the biggest advantage for this is for people in a hurry or constantly on the move who need to call ahead to make reservations or confirm appointments. This additional feature can be very beneficial, but is not standard and is not necessary required for everyone.
